Buying your first bass guitar for beginners can be a complicated process, as there are hundreds of models of bass guitars available. There is also a host of equipment needed to be purchase along with the bass guitar for beginners, and you need to know all the different aspects of bass guitar for beginners if you truly want to become a great bass player.

-        The Bass

The bass guitar that you select should be designed for beginners. The average bass guitar for beginners will usually be in the lower priced section of the guitar shop, and these bass guitars are the best way to get started learning to play. They are usually decent quality, but they are designed to make it easy for beginners to learn how to play the bass. There are many models, but those looking to begin playing the bass should find a simple bass guitar.

Your average bass guitar has two or three pickups, either of single or double coil. The double coil bass guitars nearly always provide a better sound, but they tend to be far more expensive than the single coil guitars. If you can find a bass guitar for beginners with a double coil and two single coils, you should definitely purchase that one.

New bass players often have a hard time pressing down the strings to hit the notes, and you should try to find a bass that has the strings set closely to the neck. You can also ask the sales clerk to adjust the height of the strings.

-        The Equipment

Every bass guitar player will need an amplifier to project the sound of his bass, and you can purchase a small bass amp for a fairly low price. You won’t need to project your sound loudly until you have more experience, and a small bass amp will be enough to get started practicing on your bass.

You need a cable to run from your bass guitar for beginners to your amp, and these cables can be purchased very cheaply at your guitar store. Purchase a cable that is at least a couple of meters long, as that will give you enough room to move around as you practice. You will also need a shorter cable to run from your bass tuner to your amp.

A Bass Guitar Tuner is a vital part of playing the bass, as that is how you will be able to keep the bass in tune. As a beginner, you will have no idea how to tune bass guitars, so you will need a tuner to help you. They usually cost between 50 and 150 dollars, depending on the quality of tuner.  These pedals are easy to use, and you can even tune your bass while you are playing thanks to the bass tuner.

-        The Accessories

There are a number of accessories that you will need for your bass guitar:

A strap will support the bass from your shoulder so you can play it.

A pick is optional for those who prefer a pick to playing with their fingers

You will need tutorials and books on how to play the bass, as that is the only way that you will learn.
