It’s singer Dee Willis, Carlotta’s ex-friend and former band mate, who stole Carlotta’s man before clawing her way up the charts. Dee’s made the leap from Southie’s barrooms to the cover of People magazine, but now she’s back in Carlotta’s life, bringing with her a load of trouble. She hires Carlotta to track down a mutual friend who’s fallen on hard times, but Carlotta soon finds that there’s a far more menacing tune being played. Someone is blackmailing Dee, claiming she stole songwriting credits-and the money and fame that came with them. As the spotlight’s glare turns as cold as the corpse that turns up in Dee’s hotel room, Carlotta’s past is about to catch up to her…with a vengeance. |

#1s…and Then Some $13.99 Three weeks before the release of this double-disc best-of-and-then-some collection, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, who as Brooks & Dunn were one of the most successful duos in country music history, decided to call it a day after 19 years, 40 singles (half of which topped the country charts), ten studio albums, and a slew of awards. While their announcement stunned contemporary country fans, recent albums showed the pair beginning to rely too heavily on their formula and not enough on new ideas. Still, as far as the industry was concerned, they went out on top. #1s…and Then Some contains 30 tracks spread over two discs and includes two new songs. Disc one opens with Ronnie Dunn and Terry McBride’s barroom and stadium rock killer “Honky Tonk Stomp,” which opens the set with special guest guitar blazer Billy Gibbonsof ZZ Top, and disc two opens with the pair’s own “Indian Summer,” a midtempo ballad that’s as fine a summation of their collective career as listeners are likely to get. Dozens of familiar cuts are here, from their first smash “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” to the gorgeous cover of B.W. Stevenson’s “My Maria” and a slew of other hits and B-sides — including “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” and “If You See Him/If You See Her,” both with Reba McEntire. While it’s true that many of these tracks have been collected on the two previous hits collections, this is the first time that all the number ones have been in one place, and it’s the best argument there is for the legacy they leave behind. Remember, this duo originally consisted of two solo artists who became a group as the result of an arranged marriage by their record company; the combination worked better than anyone ever dreamed. They may return to being solo acts (Dunn has written for a slew of country artists over the years), but with greatly expanded musical palettes and media-savvy aesthetics because of their longstanding relationship. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi |

(I Want To) Come Home $54.44 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! “I Want to Come Home” is a song written and recorded by Paul McCartney for the 2009 film Everybody’s Fine. An early cut of Everybody’s Fine was screened for McCartney, with Aretha Franklin’s cover of “Let It Be” inserted as a place holder by director Kirk Jones. McCartney was inspired to write the song for the film after connecting with the protagonist, portrayed by Robert De Niro, a widower who “hits the road to visit his scattered children after they cancel a weekend gathering.” McCartney told USA Today, “I can very much relate to a guy who’s got older children, who happens to have lost his wife, the mother of those children, and is trying to get them all together at Christmas. I understand that.” After recording a demo version on cassette, McCartney received notes for the song from Jones requesting an intro for the song as opposed to its original “abrupt” start. McCartney then collaborated with the film’s music composer Dario Marianelli on orchestrations for the song “resulting in an intimate ballad with piano, guitar and spare strings.” |

10,000 Maniacs $14.14 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: 10,000 Maniacs is a United States-based alternative rock band, which formed in 1981 and continues to be active with various line-ups. The band was formed as Still Life in 1981 in Jamestown, New York, by Dennis Drew (keyboards), Steve Gustafson (bass), Chet Cardinale (drums), Robert Buck (guitar), and Teri Newhouse (Buck’s ex-wife and vocalist). Steve Gustafson invited Natalie Merchant, who was 17 at the time, to do some vocals. John Lombardo who was in a band called The Mills (along with brother guitarist/vocalists Mark Liuzzo and Paul Liuzzo and drummer Mike Young) and used to play occasionally with Still Life, was invited to join permanently on guitar and vocals. Newhouse and Cardinale left the band in July, and Natalie Merchant became the main singer. Various drummers came and left. The band changed its name to Burn Victims and then to 10,000 Maniacs after the low-budget horror movie Two Thousand Maniacs!. They performed as 10,000 Maniacs for the first time on September 7, 1981 – Labor Day, with a line-up of Natalie Merchant, John Lombardo, Robert Buck, Dennis Drew, Steve Gustafson, and Tim Edborg on drums. Tim Edborg left and Bob “Bob O Matic” Wachter was on drums for most of the 1981 gigs. Tired of playing cover songs – though oddly enough their first notable American hit was found in covering Cat Stevens hit “Peace Train” – the band started to write their own music, usually with Natalie Merchant handling the lyrics and John Lombardo the music. In February-March 1982, with Jim Foti on drums, the band recorded an EP album called Human Conflict Number Five. More gigs followed in 1982. It was during this time that they lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a short while at the encouragement of friends who said that many gigs were available there. T… More: |

12 Gauge $14.98 As one of heavy metal’s most popular subgenres, melodic death metal has seemingly had every possible angle covered, but Finland’s Kalmah have arguably challenged that assumption with their late-? 00s efforts, after striking upon a style enhanced by an unconventional blend of serrated thrash riffing and swirling synthesizers. This blend is once again showcased in impressive fashion by the group’s sixth full-length, 12 Gauge, which, if anything, is even more aggressive than its immediate predecessors, on the strength of raging moshers like “Bullets Are Blind,” “Hook the Monster” and “Godeye.” Yes, those aforementioned keyboards continuously shadow the frenzied guitar action (notably on “One of Fail”), and Antti Kokko’s inspired solos and occasional acoustic intros see (“Rust Never Sleeps,” the title track) bring frequent melodic contrasts to the table, but brutality ultimately reigns supreme as the dominating emotion here. Actually, even vocalist Pekka Kokko seems to put a little more “GRRR” into his growls this time around, and he certainly digs deeper in his bowels than on Kalmah’s most recent release, 2008’s For the Revolution, to help give the band’s more extreme-minded supporters exactly what they wish for with this excellent album. [The Japanese edition of 12 Gauge also featured a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Cold Sweat."] ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi |

1959 Bassman LTD 4×10 Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier (Lacquer Tweed Covering) $1399.99 The 50s Fender Bassman was the pro bassists answer to amplifying a great new invention: the Fender Precision Bass guitar. This powerful 50-watt rig could easily compete with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, four-piece drum kit with calfskin heads, and maybe even an electric guitar through a nice, new 10-watt amp! By the 60s and 70s, the original all-tube Tweed 4×10 Bassman was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. Even some emerging British amp designers of the day copied its circuitry for use in their most celebrated designs. In the 1990s, Fender released an affordable reissue of the now-collectible 59 Bassman amplifier to massive acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalizers, and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender tube amp. The Bassmans wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency swirl make it the perfect vehicle for building a great tone with almost any guitar or effect. The reissue Bassman continues to be a staple of the Fender guitar amp line to this day. The new 59 Bassman LTD is enhanced with: Genuine lacquered Tweed covering. Finger-joined pine cabinet for woody, resonant tone. Original spec 5AR4 rectifier tube for natural compression when playing hard. Internal bias pot makes it easier to experiment with various output tubes. Two GT-6L6 Groove Tube output tubes. Three improved 12AX7 preamp tubes. Fitted cover. |

1990 [Bonus Tracks] $14.99 Daniel Johnston’s only Shimmy Disc release provides a nice showcase of the kind of spare and blunt material he excels at and contains plenty of his own brand of preaching. With his minimal guitar/piano accompaniment and childlike vocals, Johnston sounds at once bleak and innocent on nouveau church hymns like “Held the Hand” and “Lord Give Me Hope.” He switches gears for some fire and brimstone, though, on the impassioned and painfully comic “Don’t Play Cards With Satan” (one of three live numbers recorded at CBGB’s). Johnston gets some help from Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and Lee Ranaldo on the rousing, minor-key number “Spirit World Rising” and teams up with Jad Fair for the touching lament “Some Things Last a Long Time.” The mood lightens a bit with a cover of the Beatles’ “Got to Get You Into My Life,” but with Johnston’s gothic and chunky piano chords threatening to derail the song, the respite is brief. Johnston’s battle with manic depression is well known and is made painfully explicit here when successive live cuts find him in tears at one moment (“Careless Love”) and leading a singalong in the next (“Funeral Home”). In spite of the rough going, this Daniel Johnston release is still worth getting; It’s certainly a must for his fans and not a bad purchase for the newcomer either. [The 2008 remastered reissue adds five bonus demos, including a piano-led version of "Tears Stupid Tears".] ~ Stephen Cook, Rovi |

1995 $16.98 This is a 2002 reissue of the original CD by guitar hero David “Fuze” Fiuczynski’s Screaming Headless Torsos quintet. Along with two previously unissued tracks (Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and George Harrison’s “Something), this outing provides an early glimpse of one of the most powerful jazz-rock units to emerge in quite some time. On the other hand, perhaps the brand of music heard here could be akin to shock therapy treatment. Vocalist Dean Bowman adds a lot of character to this quintet as he raps, croons, and scats atop an assortment of high-octane pieces, consisting of funk motifs, jazzy progressions, and tricky time signatures. Dynamics abound, partly due to the rhythm section’s razor-sharp precision and seemingly impossible technical gymnastics. Fiuczynski leads the charge via his often slithery attack, marked by screeching crescendos, blazing single-note leads, and swiftly executed chord voicings. However, the group lowers the generally excitable proceedings down a notch or two during their soul-blues rendition of “Little Wing.” The band’s slightly in-your-face demeanor provides the knockout punch, yet it’s not all about aimless or frenzied chops fests. On this release, the musicians rise to the occasion amid 14 solid tracks that cover quite a bit of terrain. Recommended. ~ Glenn Astarita, Rovi |

2 Minutes to Midnight $62.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! 2 Minutes to Midnight is a song by British band Iron Maiden. The song is released as the band’s tenth single and second track from their fifth album Powerslave. The single was released on August 6, 1984 and rose to number 11 in the UK Singles Chart and number 25 on Billboard Top Album Tracks. The song was written by Adrian Smith and Bruce Dickinson. The song has references to the Doomsday Clock, the symbolic clock used by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. In September 1953 the clock reached 23:58, the closest the clock ever got to midnight. This occurred when the United States and Soviet Union tested H-bombs within nine months of one another. The first guitar solo is played by Dave Murray followed by a guitar solo played by Adrian Smith. The first B-side is a cover of British progressive rock band Beckett’s “Rainbow’s Gold”. Another B-side, titled “Mission from ‘Arry”, is a recording of an argument between bassist Steve Harris and drummer Nicko McBrain. |

25 & Alive: Boneshaker $19.99 Mot? rhead is one of a kind. A no-nonsense, no-holds-barred rock & roll band — led by legendary vocalist/bassist/songwriter Lemmy Kilmister — who profoundly influenced heavy metal and punk alike. For a thorough overview of Mot? rhead on home video, it’s going to be difficult to top SPV’s 2001 DVD 25 & Alive: Boneshaker. The core of this DVD is Mot? rhead’s 25th anniversary concert held at Brixton Academy in London on October 22, 2000, during the We Are Mot? rhead tour. Lemmy, guitarist “Philthy Animal” Taylor, and drummer Mikkey Dee treat the capacity crowd to a 23-song set. Highlights include “We Are Mot? rhead,” “I’m So Bad (Baby I Don’t Care),” “Overnight Sensation,” the Sex Pistols cover “God Save the Queen,” “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “You Better Run,” “Orgasmatron,” “Going to Brazil,” “Damage Case,” “Bomber,” and “Ace of Spades.” Several surprise guests sit in on a few songs, including Warlock and Doro goddess Doro Pesch and Ugly Kid Joe’s Whitfield Crane on vocals during “Born to Raise Hell,” longtime Mot? rhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke during “The Chase Is Better Than the Catch,” Lemmy and Philip Anthony Campbell’s sons on guitar during “Killed by Death,” and Clarke, Queen guitarist Brian May, and Skunk Anansie guitarist Ace during the final encore, “Overkill.” But that’s not all. 25 & Alive: Boneshaker is also stuffed with interviews, photos, bandmember biographies, “Sacrifice” and “God Save the Queen” music videos, and a special discography noting rare and obscure Mot? rhead singles and albums from around the world. Musical extras include Lemmy and Campbell performing “Ain’t No Nice Guy” acoustically in a London studio in July 2001, and Mot? rhead ripping through “R.A.M.O.N.E.S.,” “Shoot You in the Back,” “Born to Raise Hell” (with guest vocalist Nina C. 2Cellos $12.99 Following in the footsteps of Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy, Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, aka 2Cellos, were discovered through YouTube, after six million people viewed their classical cover version of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” Now with a major-label deal under their belt, the classically trained musicians face the tough prospect of translating what could be seen a one-trick pony novelty into a full-length album. It’s a task made even more difficult considering that, unlike violinist David Garrett’s forays into classical rock, which add layers of orchestral production on top of his virtuoso skills, the two 24-year-olds’ self-titled debut doesn’t feature any other instruments. Luckily, the pair’s masterful talents, which seem to produce sounds from a cello that otherwise wouldn’t seem possible, more than make up for the lack of background support. Indeed, other than the deliberately sparse reworkings of Johnny Cash’s rendition of “Hurt” and second Jackson interpretation “Human Nature,” its 12 tracks very rarely feel as stripped-back as one might expect, as the duo replicates the twanging guitar hook from Dick Dale’s Pulp Fiction theme “Misirlou,” the crunching riffs of Nirvana’s grunge classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and the lilting piano chords of Muse’s “The Resistance,” using a combination of plucking, bowing, and frantic strumming. While the bombastic treatments of “Smooth Criminal” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” have received all the attention, the whole concept is just as effective on the slower numbers, as they turn Sting’s flamenco-tinged “Fragile” into a mournful Gypsy folk ballad and transform U2’s “With Or Without You” into a poignant instrumental suitable for a soundtrack to a Jane Austen adaptation. The ambitious project only really falters on the one track, which on paper seems best suited to their craft, with their adaptation of “Viva la Vida” sounding surprisingly flat when compared … |

3D $17.98 When one first glances at the cover of Casey Driessen’s 3D, it’s difficult to know what to expect. Driessen’s red hair is brushed back, and he’s wearing these funky 3D glasses with a “3″ on one lens and a “D” on the other. From this info, one might be prepared for spacey electronic music or perhaps a surrealistic singer/songwriter. But the final clue at the bottom on the cover photo is the head of a fiddle, Driessen’s instrument of choice, which may or may not lead one to guess 3D’s dominant musical style: progressive instrumental Celtic music. Listeners have probably never heard “Sally in the Garden” arranged with drums, programming, and an electric sruti box, though the addition of Jerry Douglas’ dobro, Tim O’Brien’s bouzouki, and Driessen’s fiddle add stable elements. It’s as though the players started with a fairly traditional base of acoustic instruments and then inserted percussion, progressive material, and the occasional electronic element to spice things up. Even on more conservative — instrumentally speaking — tunes like Driessen’s “The Confusion Before Dreams” proves quite compelling, and the vocal numbers, often a distraction on primarily instrumental albums, are fun. There’s a funky take on “Sugarfoot Rag” with Driessen’s ultra-cool vocal and Darrell Scott spunky guitar work. While a number of semi-progressive musicians like O’Brien have gotten lots of credit for pushing bluegrass and Celtic in new directions, the results (as with O’Brien’s dual release in 2005) seem rather tepid compared to 3D. This is fun music that will probably offend a few traditionalists while letting everyone else know that the old music can grow in exciting and unpredictable ways. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr., Rovi |

70 Concert $20.98 This European compact disc reissues Canned Heat’s Live Concert 70 (1971), which was released as Canned Heat Concert (Recorded Live in Europe) (1970) in the U.K.. The short-lived lineup heard here features Bob “The Bear” Hite (vocals), Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson (guitar/vocals/harmonica), Larry “The Mole” Taylor (bass), Aldolfo “Fito” de la Parra (drums), as well as Harvey Mandel (guitar), who had replaced Henry “Sunflower” Vestine (guitar). Arguably more significant, however, is that these are among the last gigs with Wilson. Sadly, less than six months later, he overdosed prior to the Heat’s fall 1970 European outing. The tour captured on this platter was spawned by the unanticipated success of the combo’s cover of Wilbert Harrison’s “Let’s Work Together” — taken off of the album Future Blues (1970) — which became their most successful side throughout Europe. With Mandel driving the band instrumentally, there is an incremental shift towards more jammed-out interaction and completely rearranged melodies. This is immediately exemplified by the loose and funky “That’s All Right Mama.” Alternately, Wilson’s dark visage is evident on the lonesome and harrowing “Pulling Hair Blues,” or the improvised “London Blues,” a number likewise marked by his biting bottleneck slide guitar solos and haunting off-key vocals. Although the track list portrays it as a medley, “Back on the Road Again” bears little in common with the “On the Road Again.” Rather than, at the very least, a verse from both songs being played, the latter is only alluded to. The live reading of “Let’s Work Together” is as vivacious as the original, with the Heat going all out for their appropriately appreciative audience. ~ Lindsay Planer, Rovi |

801 Live $11.99 801 provided Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera with one of his most intriguing side projects. Although the band only played three gigs in August and September 1976, this album captures a night when everything fell right into place musically. That should only be expected with names like Eno and Simon Phillips in the lineup. (Still, the lesser-known players — bassist Bill MacCormick, keyboardist Francis Monkman, and slide guitarist Lloyd Watson — are in exemplary form, too.) The repertoire is boldly diverse, opening with “Lagrima,” a crunchy solo guitar piece from Manzanera. Then the band undertakes a spacey but smoldering version of “Tomorrow Never Knows”; it’s definitely among the cleverest of Beatles covers. Then it’s on to crisp jazz-rock (“East of Asteroid”), atmospheric psych-pop (“Rongwrong”), and Eno’s tape manipulation showcase, “Sombre Reptiles.” And that’s only the first five songs. The rest of the gig is no less audacious, with no less than three Eno songs — including a frenetic “Baby’s on Fire,” “Third Uncle,” and “Miss Shapiro”’s dense, syllable-packed verbal gymnastics. There’s another unlikely cover of the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” while Manzanera turns in another typically gutsy instrumental performance on “Diamond Head.” This album marks probably one of the last times that Eno rocked out in such an unself-consciously fun fashion, but that’s not the only reason to buy it: 801 Live is a cohesive document of an unlikely crew who had fun and took chances. Listeners will never know what else they might have done if their schedules had been less crowded, but this album’s a good reminder. ~ Ralph Heibutzki, Rovi |

Later reissues of 801 Live added two more Eno songs as bonus tracks, “Golden Hours” and “The Fat Lady of Limbourg,” tilting the album more toward the singer/synthesizer player. A Number of Small Things: A Collection of Morr Music Singles $22.98 Collecting a variety of singles that appeared on the Morr-affiliated label of the same name, A Number of Small Things makes for a mixed but overall quite enjoyable collection of songs very much in the Morr vein — sweet, wistful, often electronic-friendly, and not a little derived from general indie pop and shoegaze aesthetics. Cover versions turn up throughout the collection — Seavault, a collaboration between isan’s Antony Ryan and Slowdive veteran Simon Scott, offer up a few, including Ultra Vivid Scene’s “Mercy Seat” (given a sweetly majestic take not far removed from the original) and the Undertones’ “Teenage Kicks” — isan themselves offer up interpretations of Erik Satie’s famous Gymnopedie sequence — while Masha Qrella has her way with a quietly chugging take on Bryan Ferry’s “Don’t Stop the Dance.” Elsewhere, the duo of Markus Acher and Valerie Trebeljahr — wittily titled John Yoko — do a version of Smog’s “Morning Paper” that in its grace and charm outdoes the original. Various songs are straight-up sparkling and winsome guitar pop of the kind that eventually gave “twee” a fairly bad name — nothing against the work of acts like Butcher the Bar per se; it’s just that they bring nothing new to the field. More energetic efforts come courtesy of Electric President, whose “I’m Not the Lonely Son (I’m the Ghost)” benefits from a crackling shuffle of a rhythm, and B. Fleischman’s exquisite electronic construction “Broken Monitors,” which somehow manages to call to mind both OMD at their most experimental and Simple Minds at their most instrumentally precise, a triumph that never shouts out loud. Meanwhile, Populous’ “Blood Red Bird” does the remarkable in sounding like later-period piano-driven Cocteau Twins musically while not trying to sound like them at all vocally — points for credit there alone, frankly. ~ Ned Raggett, Rovi |

After School Session [Expanded] $9.99 Chuck Berry’s first album boasts a picture of him lifted from his appearance in the 1956-vintage rock & roll movie Rock, Rock, Rock — it’s a daring pose if you look closely, the singer/guitarist/songwriter captured at his most animated, in what was a pretty bold pose for a black artist in an interracial movie, strutting and duck-walking across the screen with his guitar at full…exposure. That said, bold as the movie appearance was and the pose that was reflected in its cover, After School Session came out fairly late, given that his first hit, “Maybellene,” dated from the summer of 1955. This was partly owing to the sheer novelty of rock & roll LPs — during that period, only a relative handful reached the public, and a significant portion of those were the work of Elvis Presley or Bill Haley, whose associations with the gigantic RCA Victor and Decca labels, respectively, put them in virtually a separate universe from everyone else in the field, especially Berry, recording for the tiny independent Chess label. Chess Records hadn’t even issued its first LP until the end of 1956, and that album, the soundtrack LP Rock, Rock, Rock, had included “Maybellene.” After School Session was only the label’s second-ever long-player, and its timing was predicated on the fact that, after “Maybellene,” the rock & roll legend hadn’t charted another major pop hit in almost two years (though he had generated some serious R&B hits, which are included here, among them the blues “Wee Wee Hours” — which was what Berry originally purported to represent as his sound — and the more rhythm-oriented “No Money Down” and “Brown Eyed Handsome Man”). It was the release and hit status of “School Day” in the early spring of 1957 that yielded this album, which is a brilliant compendium of the range, depth, and breadth of Berry’s music across his first two years as a recording artist. The sounds ranged from the pounding, jargon-laden teen-oriented beat of “School Day” through … |

Excerpt: A Collection of Great Dance Songs item Pink Floyd compilations chronology item A Nice Pair (1973): A Collection of Great Dance Songs (1981): Works (1983) A Collection of Great Dance Songs is a compilation album by Pink Floyd released on 23 November 1981 on Harvest/EMI in the UK and Columbia Records in the United States. History The title is facetious, given that Pink Floyd is not known for making particularly danceable music. This is perhaps evidenced by the album art, which featured a photograph of ballroom dancers guyed to the ground so they cannot move. The Hipgnosis design team did the cover under the pseudonym TCP after falling out with Roger Waters a few years earlier. The inner sleeve had pictures of dancers in either a white (UK) or black (U.S.) background. The picture labels were a black background with blue lines and red sketch lined dancers on side one and reverse on side two. The album contains alternate mixes of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” (which comprises parts 1 3, 5 and 7) and “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)” (which combines the intro from the single mix with the album version which fades out during the “if you don’t eat your meat” ending). Also, the track “Money” was re-recorded as Capitol Records refused to let Columbia Records in the U.S. use the track. David Gilmour re-recorded the track himself playing all of the drums, guitars, keyboards, bass guitar and vocals and |

Chapters: The First Four Years, Six Pack, Rubbing Doesn’t Help, Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death, Fire All Your Guns at Once, Blurring the Edges, Lexicon Devil, (Mia): the Complete Anthology, Milking the Sacred Cow. Excerpt: Rubbing Doesn’t Help is the third album by Magnapop, released in 1996. The sessions for Rubbing Doesn’t Help were produced by Geza X at City Lab Studios in Hollywood, California in late 1995. Drummer David McNair left the group prior to recording, so they hired session musician Josh Freese to fill in on drums. This would be the band’s final album for almost a decade; their record label folded while promoting Rubbing Doesn’t Help and they were contractually barred from recording under that name. The band (along with Freese) also went to Plus Four Recordings Studios, in Sherman Oaks, California with engineers Sandy Solomon and Bernie Zwass in June 1995 to record their cover of Tom Waits’ “Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis” for the compilation album Step Right Up: The Songs of Tom Waits. The title of the album comes from a Ben-Gay slogan. The album received mostly positive reviews, with some mixed responses. Positive critics noted the album’s emotionally powerful lyrics in addition to its aggressive instrumentationparticularly the guitar. Ambivalent reviewers criticized the lack of variety between this album and Magnapop’s previous efforts, as well as a lack of focus in the production. All songs written by Linda Hopper and Ruthie Morris, except where noted. Also includes the hidden track “Suck It Up”Japanese edition bonus tracks The Dutch edition of the album has a slightly different track listing, with “Hold You Down” (3:29) as the fourth track and omitting “Cherry Bomb”.
